Puāwai — Motherhood Mini Sessions

Imagine this…

You’re longing for some beautiful photos with your babies — or maybe just of your bump — but the idea of organising a full photoshoot feels too big right now. Time is short, life is full, and finding the energy (and budget) for a longer session just doesn’t feel doable.

Still, you feel that tug. A quiet voice reminding you that this season won’t last forever.

That’s where my mini sessions come in.

Held in a beautifully lit, natural light studio, these 20-minute sessions are short, sweet, and intentionally created to give you stunning, heartfelt images without the stress. They’re perfect for mothers with young children, for a quick and intimate maternity session, or for anyone who just wants to finally be in the frame with their babies.

These sessions are limited to just one mama and up to two children, keeping the space calm, focused, and connection-filled. Once a year I may offer an outdoor version that includes the full family, but most of the year, these are reserved for motherhood moments only — quiet, powerful, and deeply personal.

With only 4–6 events per year and just a handful of time slots available each time, these sessions are rare. I photograph everyone back to back so I’m able to offer them at a more accessible price, but still bring the same level of care, professionalism, and intention that I do with my full sessions.

You’ll be gently guided every step of the way. With my background in natural light, posing, and a deep understanding of motherhood (from being in it myself), I’ll help you feel confident and seen — no awkwardness, no guesswork, and no more disappointment from trying to get a good photo on someone’s phone.

These aren’t just quick photos. They’re a chance to pause and be present with your babies. A time capsule you’ll treasure more and more as the years pass.

"You made all of us feel super comfortable and you weren't afraid to pull out all the silliness to get some big smiles out of my toddler when she was completely done with the shoot too. I will cherish these photos for life."

"Cat your juggling abilities are next level! Photographing 6 people and making sure we all felt comfortable and managing young kiddos is far from easy but you handled it perfectly! The kids had the time of their lives and were asking to go back!"

You were so professional, warm and relaxed to be around. You were also so confident and calming with our 10day old bub and helped us not be so awkward in front of the camera!

FAQ

What do we wear?

I always recommend dressing in a way that feels most comfortable to you. That being said, certain colours and styles definitely photograph better than others so once you have confirmed your booking I will provide you with a pdf guide which will have all the information you need about what to wear and how to prepare.

How far do you travel?

80km return travel is included in all sessions. This includes Raglan, Cambridge, Morrinsville, Huntly, Te Awamutu & Pirongia.

There is a $150 fee for 81km-120km return travel. This includes Otorohanga, Putāruru, Te Kauwata, Te Aroha, and Whangamatā.

There is a $200 fee for 120km - 180km return travel. This includes Tauranga, Papamoa, Katikati, Pauanui, Waihi, Whangamatā.

For travel outside of these distances please get in touch for a custom quote.

What is the best age/time to do these?

I try and book these sessions in for 9:30/10am to align with toddler nap times and usually aim to get their photos done first so that once their time is done they can go and play/have some snacks. I also have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to make the photoshoot feel like "fun" for them to help get the shot.

What if my baby doesn't settle?

Some babies need more time to feed and settle which is why the session can last up to 3 hours. All sessions are baby led so even if your little one is needing a little more support on the day, we'll simply follow their lead, spending most of our time capturing them in mum or dads arms

How long does a typical newborn session last?

As long as everyone is ready when I arrive, I can usually have the session complete in 1.5hours. If baby is cluster feeding or needing a lot of time to settle though, the session can last up to 3 hours.

How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?

Final galleries are delivered by 4 weeks after the session.

What if my house isn't very photogenic?

I've spent years learning how to read light and honestly, all I need for beautiful photographs is a window of light. If you're really unsure though feel free to send me through some photos of your space and we can chat further about how I can make it work or we can always discuss a studio hire fee.

Do you do payment plans?

I require your booking fee to be paid in full to book and your package to be paid in full by the date of your session.

You are welcome however, to pay for your package in advance with weekly/fortnightly instalments that suit your budget via an AP if this is easier for you.
